Independence Day

fireworksWe’re taking a brief break from Retreat Planning to update our readers on what’s been happening on our campus. We’ll pick up our regular series next week.

Things have been busy around Mt. Chestnut Nazarene Retreat Center as the first month of summer has slipped quickly past us. Summer camps are in full swing. Already nearly one week into July and getting pretty tired of all the rain Western Pennsylvania has had, we’ve just celebrated a beautiful Independence Day weekend with perfect weather and plenty of activity.

Our guests, campers and Village residents enjoyed a Sparkling! Booming! Colorful! night-sky tribute to the United States of America, compliments of this past week’s youth camp. Thank you to the Common Ground Baptist group for sharing this much-anticipated annual tradition with all of us.

Our Snack Shack was open this past July 4th Saturday, another “first” for MCNC. This adventurous undertaking was a great success in that it provided an opportunity for relaxation, fellowship, fun and food. Some of our Snack Shack Independence Day visitors made a special trip just to support this pioneer effort. We offer our sincere thanks to all who participated and enjoyed a break from cooking on Saturday afternoon. Plans are being made to repeat this popular offering on Labor Day. We hope you’ll stop by and hang out with old and new friends. Everyone’s welcome!!!

Also…our 2015 Family Camp will be presenting the FIRST ANNUAL MCNC FOOD CHALLENGE. Start practicing NOW—you may have the opportunity to pit your hot-dog-eating skills against some very experienced prize-winning food-challenge champs!

The fun never ends…..Be here! Be a part!
