Deb is the first person you may encounter either in person or on the phone. Connecting with her is easy as she is passionate about camping ministries and a natural extrovert.

Deb provides necessary support not just for Mt. Chestnut Retreat Center but also for many ministries within the Pittsburgh District Church of the Nazarene.

General office duties don’t naturally fuel Deb, but she does get excited about lunch and facility tours.

Deb has been married to Dan for 30 years and they have 3 biological adult sons and 100’s of chosen children. Deb’s most spoiled family member is her Pitbull, Shep.

In Deb’s free time she enjoys walking Shep, swimming, building puzzles, and baking.

Winter Storage Facilitator

Barry is well known on grounds, as he is our most seasoned staff member. He often can be found riding around on his Mule or the backhoe.

Barry looks for opportunities to start a fire when he isn’t coordinating our winter storage in the Tabernacle and pavilions. Barry is most excited about making new relationships and connecting with people. There is no doubt, Barry is an extrovert.

Barry has been married to Joan for over 50 years, they have 2 grown sons and 3 grandchildren.
He enjoys fishing, hunting, playing his trumpet, and singing.

Head Housekeeper

Amy works tirelessly to maintain a high standard of cleanliness in her role of Head Housekeeper. She ensures all facilities are clean, safe, and ready for set deadlines for our retreats, meetings, and camps. As part of the team, she appreciates always having something to do, there certainly isn’t a lack of projects or cleaning.

Amy has enjoyed connecting with our team, who have embraced her goofy personality and infamous “Thought for the Day” jokes and reflections. She brings a joyful presence to our team.

Amy is divorced with a daughter, Emily. Without a doubt, Amy is an extrovert… I mean, have you met her? In her free time, she enjoys, reading just about anything, painting, creating wood crafts and planters. She is also a collector of socks, wearing a new pair just about every day. Down the road, she would like to learn calligraphy.

Hospitality Assistant

VirLinda provides support to our food service and housekeeping departments. She helps by serving meals, washing dishes, cleaning facilities, assisting in set up and tear down with events, and is an all-around team player.

“Being part of a team, seeing work projects come together, and doing things to make retreats nicer for the people coming in” is one of the most exciting parts of her job. VirLinda also gets satisfaction from knowing that her service in making beds assists in others having a refreshing night’s sleep.

VirLinda has been married to Randy for 30 years. They have 2 grown, adopted sons, one grandson, one granddaughter, and 2 cats. As an introvert, VirLinda enjoys quiet hobbies such as quilting and raising and releasing Monarch Butterflies. One skill she would like to acquire is calligraphy.

Justin has provided plans for Mt. Chestnut Retreat Center to strengthen and expand our network as resources allow. He is also a Pittsburgh District Church of the Nazarene resource, providing support, advice, and oversight to our local churches, helping them reach their technology goals.

He is often the most called upon individual when technology seems to be fickle or with user error. Although Justin isn’t always on property, he can easily monitor our network, thermostats and soon us… via cameras.

Justin has been married to Gretchen for over 8 years and they have 3 children: Dylan, Elijah, and Amelia. They 3 four legged kids as well – Sophie, Mator, and Misty. In between summer retreats you can find Justin ‘digitally disconnected’ in a hammock somewhere on grounds.
