Meet Our Staff

Our friendly staff is waiting to serve you. Firmly believing that their work is unto Jesus, they offer the best they possibly can. You may see any one of our staff out and about on the grounds, so feel free to say hello, and if you need something, please ask.

Colleen Baker – Center Administrator.

Colleen Baker

Center Administrator

Colleen’s central focus is to see the Kingdom work fulfilled through the staff and ministry at MCNC. The most important part of the week is gathering staff together to study Scripture and pray for needs personally and corporately. Juggling multiple areas of her position is challenging but rewarding as there is never a dull moment.

She always tries to find time to lead by example, working on projects alongside staff and seems to be the only one who tackles painting and staining on grounds. Naturally an extrovert, but she can tend to feel “peopled out” and is learning to recharge in quiet moments alone.

Colleen has been married to Bill for over 10 years. They have 3 children, Amya, Adalyn, and Isaiah. In her downtime Colleen enjoys kayaking, caring for plants, decorating, organizing, and relaxing with friends. She would like to acquire the skill of woodworking or creating things with a Cricut.

A few of her favorites:

Color: Purple

Food: Homemade Mac-n-cheese, but mostly cheese

Drink: Coffee

Scripture: 2 Timothy 1:7 serves as a constant reminder that God’s Spirit that dwells in me isn’t a spirit of fear, but it is a Spirit of power, love and sound mind. This reminds me that through God’s Spirit I can overcome things that I may naturally stray away from. The victory has been won and we have been given the tools to overcome!

Mark Cooper – Executive Chef

Mark Cooper

Executive Chef

Mark oversees all food service operations including the creation of the menu, preparation and serving of the food, and ensure both the food and dining facilities are in accordance with health codes. He also assists in some administrative tasks for the Center and helps with the ongoing development of our online presence.

Mark enjoys cooking for other people. “My passion for cooking is not just so I can have good food to eat, but so that I can share it with others”. Mark also really enjoys opportunities to help with other things around the facilities while acquiring new skills outside of the food service department.

Mark is certainly an introvert, who lives with his beautiful and loving Pitbull, Penny. In his downtime he enjoys, cooking (obviously), drumming, kayaking, hiking, traveling, swimming, and arts & crafts projects. He would like to acquire new skills that will assist him in home repairs, woodworking, and vehicle mechanics.

A few of his favorites:

Color: Black

Food: Tacos, especially with pork

Drink: Canada Dry ginger ale

Scripture: Ezekiel 37:1-14, The Valley of the Dry Bones. This passage is a beautiful picture of God’s amazing grace that completes the impossible task of raising that which is dead back to life. But not just life, NEW life, filled with God’s Spirit, and restored to the purpose for which we were created.

Doug Woodcook- Maintenance Manager.

Doug Woodcook

Maintenance Manager

Doug has a tremendous responsibility of ensuring facilities are moving forward. Not only does he keep things in working order, but he also plans renovations and upgrades to many necessary areas. He daily oversees the function of our sewer and water plants, keeping us in compliance with DEP.

Doug appreciates that not every day is the same and enjoys that each day is different. Even during chaos, Doug maintains a calm demeanor and steady pace to get the job done.

Doug has been married to his wife Karen, for 30 wonderful years. They have a daughter, Laura, son-in-law, Kyle and 4 grandchildren. Living at home with them is their spoiled, rotten dog, Apollo. In his downtime, Doug enjoys fixing anything and reading and would like to acquire the skill of “totally relaxing without falling asleep”.

A few of his favorites:

Color: Blue

Food: Spaghetti

Drink: Water

Guy Mercer- Groundskeeper.

Guy Mercer

Groundskeeper

Guy tries to claim that he “just cuts grass” (maybe due to being an introvert), but he is a man of many talents. Guy’s main responsibilities are mowing grass, spraying weeds, and keeping the grounds presentable. He feels successful when he looks around the 80-acre property seeing the fruits of his labor from mowing and trimming. When he cannot mow, he can be found pitching in to assist in various maintenance projects happening on grounds. We try to provide as many opportunities as possible for Guy to practice his wood working hobby at work!

Guy has been married to Rhonda for 47 years. They have two adult children, 6 grandchildren and 3 dogs. He would like to learn to write songs.

A few of his favorites:

Color: Blue

Food: Ed’s BBQ ribs

Drink: Water
Barry Mohney – Maintenance Assistant/Winter Storage Coordinator.

Barry Mohney

Winter Storage Facilitator

Barry is well known on grounds, as he is our most seasoned staff member. He often can be found riding around on his Mule or the backhoe. Barry looks for opportunities to start a fire when he isn’t coordinating our winter storage in the Tabernacle and pavilions. Barry is most excited about making new relationships and connecting with people. There is no doubt, Barry is an extrovert.

Barry has been married to Joan for over 50 years, they have 2 grown sons and 3 grandchildren. He enjoys fishing, hunting, playing his trumpet, and singing.

A few of his favorites:

VirLinda also gets satisfaction from knowing that her service in making beds assists in others having a refreshing night’s sleep.

VirLinda has been married to Randy for 30 years. They have 2 grown, adopted sons, one grandson, and 2 cats. As an introvert, VirLinda enjoys quiet hobbies such as quilting and raising and releasing Monarch Butterflies. One skill she would like to acquire is calligraphy.
