20/20 Capital Improvements Vision for 2020
Growing up as a Pastor’s kid on the District, I attended Girls, Teen and Family Camps. I loved camp and wanted to be here anytime I could. I can remember asking my dad to drive faster so I could get to camp early to have the first pick of my bed.
It didn’t take long to learn that late arrivals were left with the top bunk and that was when the bunks were 3 high. The clearance from the ceiling to the bed was minimal and I often bumped my head. I’m thankful we don’t have those bunks anymore.
We have come so far improving our facilities to provide comfort and hospitality for our guests. It is great to reflect on the past and be reminded of all the ways God provided for us to grow and change.
Looking to the future, we have a vision to expand to better serve our guests. In 2020 our 20/20 is to raise capital funds for two areas of necessary growth.
- First, the critical renovation of Dorm 1. If you remember coming to camp as a kid, this dorm will match your camp memories…. not just in appearance but in smell. The interior of Dorm 1 has not changed or been updated since its establishment. This facility is in a prime location that if renovated, could earn us year-round revenue we aren’t able to capture in its current condition.
- Second, we envision the construction of a brand-new lodge. We know this will take years of planning, but we imagine this lodge to have hotel-style rooms with its own conference center, a fireplace, and a new dining facility. We are dreaming BIG because we serve a BIG God who has been faithful and knows our hearts desire to serve Him and advance His Kingdom.
We ask you to prayerfully consider how you can partner with us and as God leads you to give, your tax-deductible donation can be made payable to: Pittsburgh District Church of the Nazarene mailed to 177 North Rd. Butler, PA 16001 with “Dorm 1” or “Lodge” in the memo or use the form on this page to securely donate online.
Thank you for your ongoing support in our campground/retreat center, it is a pleasure to partner with so many who share our vision and passion for God’s ministry. Be Blessed.
